How to encourage learning about tent care!

Fooling around?

Who use three?

So 'not' how you flatten the air out of a tent.  But someone want to tell me they were not learning and having fun.  I think big white teddy had a great time.  Loved, patted sand falling for the girls.

What a tune!

Meet Gordi.

Gordi's interests are t cooking, cleaning, singing and having friends pop in.

Gordi enjoys it when there are not people being critical of his missed keys and hits that open into another unknown song.  Pity Gordi is tone deaf.

As the people in the know say being tone deaf may have something to do with High Functions Autism disorder [Asbergers].  Having said that it explains a lot about Gordi's behaviour patterns as well as the problems with spelling, reading writing and just plain not hearing you as you speak!

Just helping

Attachment disorder.  Gordi thought he was only helping to clean out the draws.

Yes when everything else went in Gordi could not think where this would go.  So Gordi is keeping it until it is better!

Ever hear this story?

Talking teddy bear to promote Scots Gaelic

Gaelic teddy
The Gaelic teddy will repeat words for colours, shapes and numbers

A teddy bear that repeats Gaelic words for colours, numbers and shapes is being made to help encourage greater use of the language.
The toy has been developed by Western Isles-based publisher Acair.
Aimed at children aged six months and over, the teddy is based on a bear that speaks Irish Gaelic.
Acair's Agnes Rennie said the new bear supported Gaelic organisation Bord na Gaidhlig's hopes of getting more youngsters to speak the language.
She told BBC Radio Scotland: "Bord na Gaidhlig has made it very clear over the last few months that they are really giving priority to working not just with pre-school children, but early stages.
"If you are able to engage with young children, and more importantly their parents, at that stage it can be hugely important in how they feel about the language and how they use the language from then on."
Respond to cuddles
The Gaelic teddy is not the Highlands and Islands first brush with interactive cuddly toys.
In 2007, there was a plan for a robot teddy that could interact with its owner and could alert medical staff to changes in a sick child's condition to be tested in the area.
Huggable, which was fitted with sensors, was being developed by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US.
The project had support from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE).
It was to have technology installed that would allow the teddy to respond to cuddles and recognise its owner as they approached it.
The first designs were shown to nursery children in Avoch in the Black Isle in 2006.

A little history from Britian teddy Bears

Childhood favourites, Winnie the Pooh and Paddington Bear are as British as tea on the lawn or a rainy bank holiday.
Although teddies were invented in Germany and the US in 1902, it was the British who took the teddy bear to their hearts and opened bear making factories all over the country.
By the end of the 20th Century, they could not compete with the cheap bears imported from China and most of them closed down.

Of all the 30 or so teddy factories that once existed in Britain, only one still remains. Nestled in the Shropshire countryside, Merrythought Ltd has been making bears since 1930.

British Bear now Olympic merchandise

The decline of British toy manufacturing does not seem to have harmed the UK toy industry as a whole as people still want toys. Plush toys including Teddies) grew at 39% in 2010 / 2011.

Behind this growth has been an advertising drive that heralds "Creativity, resilience and relevance" all playingtheir part in helping the toy industry to weather the past two years" .. " Now the toy industry
Olympic teddies

The classic teddy bear has been given an Olympic twist

needs to maintain its focus on producing toys with great play value at affordable prices,"  states Christine Nicolls [Chariman of the British Toy and Hobby Association]
Toys inspired by blockbuster films proved particularly popular in 2010, with characters from Toy Story 3 bringing in the most revenue.

The trend for fashionable soft toys has led many businesses to take advantage of the 2011 Royal Wedding and the 2012 Olympics.

Official London 2012 merchandise will contribute approximately £80m to the staging of the games and will no doubt generate huge amounts of publicity for the companies involved.
Merrythought is one of the businesses supplying 2012 products and Mr Holmes hopes it will mean "we can make Merrythought products available to a slightly wider and more discerning audience'' and keep the company going for another 80 years.

Where are the friends?

Teddy and friend having a picnic. But where are all Teddy Bear's friends?

Since Teddy Bear made a lot of invitations for friends to come along to the picnic has she reminded them?  Teddy Bear said she gave the invitations to the friends.

There were lots of invitations so a lot she invited a lot of friends.

I know all the rest of the friends must be on the other side of this picture.

That means we cannot yet see them skipping, tossing the Bear [or frog] eating their own meals or playing in cubbies.

What do you think.  Shall we look for them around this site?

From under the table they came!

One year Teddy Bear snuck into a resturant with some friends.  At first no one suspected there presence.  However some of the food went missing from peoples forks.  The fingers started to came up from under the table empty.

UMMM went the adult minds.  They Teddies were soon discovered and brought out from hiding.  They enjoyed the dessert.  However did not like the idea of doing the dishes!

Teddy Bear Picnic [2010] was a washout

The Younger Guides were going to attend a Clean up Australia Day at the Glendonald Park, Churchill.

The Girl Guides were bringing one invited Teddy Bear and another friend could come along too.  With their Teddy Bear of Course.

Instead half an hour before the time to arrive the participants parents received a text stating that the morning had been cancelled. The drought braking rain was still just coming down. Again.Only this time there was a definite wind chill factor creeping into the air.

the Hazelwood and Churchill District Girl Guides operates with a general risk analysis re attendance.  Then there is the activity specific Risk analysis.  However I, the District Leader, overruled the desire  the Guides, their teddies and their friends to attend had.

There will be other activities with Teddies this year.

Teddy Bear Picnic is on again in 2011.  Same place at the Glendonald park at the BBQ and play ground area.  The Clean Up Australia Starts at 9am, Teddy Bears welcome too.  The Teddy Bear Picnic starts at 10 am for Morning tea.  There will be activities. And Hopefully sunshine at the time.

Using Play Dough for teddies friends.

The Guides love using playdough to make teddy's friends. Even better if they can be convinced that using real dough and cooking then eating it won't hurt their Teddies friendship . Can be quite an enlightening time for the adults.
