Teddies all tied up right now.

When any activity is being planned first aid training always is a precursor to the event. Small bite sized information packages with associated games or activity relating to the activity.  For instance with a teddy bears picnic the lead up may include things like simple cuts and ouches. What to do with blood. or even informing other of  allergies - bee stings or food reactions leading to anaphalitic shock or phobias.

First aid experience is great when Teddy and friends are involved.  It is a bit hard to take of the band aids or use fake blood though.  But teddies are great for tying up in knots, hanging upside down in trees waiting for rescue, catapulting in the air with games then being attended to.  Sometimes they even get bandaged up.

A medium to big Teddy bear is easier to tie triangular slings around though. Also having large drawings of simple knot pictures is useful as a reference.  As the learner begins to associate the knot desired knot with the required hand movements the use of the knot is subliminally reinforced.  Especially when learning one thing is associated acceptable behavior or pleasent memories created as part of a bigger program, broken into manageable steps.

If the age group is young a slightly larger teddy is used as the activity becomes a small group activity. Have older people either adults or more experienced children offering to assist with the practical reinforcement if knot tying is a good idea. There is also a reinforcement of accepting other people as they are through the use of Teddy and friends.

When the age group of those using Teddy and friends is older and or more experienced the Teddy does not require an ambulance or paper work to be filled when rescue attempts occur with enthusiastic helpers pulling, push or yanking.

Another thing we do is make a scrapbook of what has happened while planning.  As the activity comes closer the parents of the children and other interested people can physically see the wide scope of things covered.  Later years those that were involved have a physical reference which assists with instant recall as well as reinforcement of learned but not consciously remembered first aid procedures.  The scrap book also assists with future planning of similar activities.  Alternatively prompts what first aid training the Teddy Bear has not been used as a practice model with.

Teddy Bear Rhyme goes into live action.

Once we have learned this simple action rhyme the teddy Bears picnic will have different activities off showing from the rhyme.  Skipping being one off shoot.  Possibly a Teddy Bear show with all the Teddy Bears and assistants helping the Teddy Bears sing and do the actions for this song.Hopefully there will be pictures taken as well for the Teddy bear Scrap book.

Where are the friends?

Teddy and friend having a picnic. But where are all Teddy Bear's friends?

Since Teddy Bear made a lot of invitations for friends to come along to the picnic has she reminded them?  Teddy Bear said she gave the invitations to the friends.

There were lots of invitations so a lot she invited a lot of friends.

I know all the rest of the friends must be on the other side of this picture.

That means we cannot yet see them skipping, tossing the Bear [or frog] eating their own meals or playing in cubbies.

What do you think.  Shall we look for them around this site?

Waving Hello or Good Bye

Teddy Bears love enthusiasm.  They thrive on seeing it, giving it and receiving it.  Be happy and your teddy Bear will know.  Lack enthusiasm and Teddy Bears all know.

Jester Teddy Bear

Children are natural entertainers. They also like being entertained. This Teddy bear picture is a good one to use when making an entertaining book.
